Short-order drama Emerald City has been canceled after one under-whelming season.
The series, a modern version of The Wizard of Oz and based on Frank Baum's Oz book series, had a nearly two-year journey from sсript to screen. The drama now has the distinction of being canceled not once but twice as the Vincent D'Onofrio starrer was picked up straight to series and scrapped before being revived with another writer months later.
The drama disappeared just as quietly as it opened despite impressive names attached including acclaimed director Tarsem Singh and D'Onofrio as the Wizard of Oz. The 10-episode limited series from Universal TV averaged a 1.2 rating.
It joins fellow freshman Powerless in the canceled heap.
